Vusi Mahlasela at the Old Mutual Summer Sunset Concerts

The Old Mutual Summer Sunset Concerts Series at Emmarentia Dam, Johannesburg Botanic Gardens, is in full-swing. The past two shows have set the pace for only the best entertainment on a lazy Saturday afternoon. This Saturday, 16 February, will see a late Valentine’s Day treat: Vusi Mahlasela and Ernie Smith will be taking the stage at the Johannesburg Botanic Garden. This concert is proudly presented by Kaya FM.
Vusi Mahlasela has been heralded as a true South African legend and he has received recognition the world over for his achievements as a musician and also his political contributions. His voice has been quoted by the Los Angeles Times as pure and commanding and his musicality reflects commitment, purpose and celebration. His music represents the social and political environment that he was raised in. He is a firm supporter of South Africa’s potential and he still resides in his hometown, Pretoria Mamelodi, where he was born.
Multi award winning Ernie Smith will open up the stage for Vusi Mahlasela on Saturday 16 February. Ernie Smith has received many awards for his work as an artist. His music is flavoured with African Jazz and Pop overtones which has given him the label of being the perfect representation of a 21st century musician in Africa.
Tickets are already on sale at www.oppikoppi.co.za, www.ticketconnection.co.za, all Mr Price stores and at the gate. Gates open at 14h00. We would like to encourage concert goers to buy their tickets before hand as if a show is rained out they may re-use the same ticket at any of the other shows (of similar monetary value).
We would also like to ask concert goers not to bring any glass containers into the show as it will be confiscated. All cooler bags are welcome, tons of sunblock, a picnic blanket and an umbrella. Bring all your friends, family and come make new friends or just come enjoy a lazy afternoon in the Johannesburg Botanic Garden while being entertained till sunset. There will also be a kids area, where parents can leave their children under supervision while enjoying the tunes.
