SOUTH AFRICA RACISM HORROR!!!! White students urinate on food and give it to black people!!!! SHOCKING VIDEO

http://play.24.com/VideoShow.aspx?cid=e580623d-529f-4491-8088-822b2879d50e

bombshell hit the University of the Free State (UFS) on Tuesday when a video was distributed showing five black cleaners at a traditionally white men’s residence on the campus being “initiated”.

Amid loud laughter, they are shown taking part in races, downing beers and drinking a mixture in which a student had secretly urinated.

Hundreds of furious black students gathered on the lawn next to the campus library on Tuesday afternoon, demanding an explanation and singing protest songs.

Student leaders managed to persuade them to delay a protest march until Wednesday morning.

Screaming students condemned the scenes on the video and waved placards with messages such as “Enough is enough”.

Speaking to Volksblad at the spontaneous campus protest, a student said: “We’re furious. The problems at the campus have now escalated, and become a full-blown human-rights issue.”

The video was apparently recorded by students at the Reitz men’s residence last September.

Given mixture to drink

The narration on the video begins: “Once upon a time the ‘boere’ lived peacefully here on Reitz Island, until one day when the less-advantaged discovered the word ‘integration’ in the dictionary.”

The cleaners take part in a “boat race” (a beer-downing competition), a dance, a sprint race, a mock rugby practice and finally, they’re given a mixture to drink.

The video shows garlic being put into a dish full of what looks like dog food.

“We know they’re less privileged so we’re adding a bit of meat,” says the narrator.

Another student puts the bowl on the toilet and urinates into the mixture.

The brew is then distributed in plastic glasses to the cleaners.

All five of them spit out the first mouthful, but try to finish it amid loud encouragement from the students.

The video ends with the words: “That, at the end of the day, is what we think of integration.”

This is followed by one of the students asking a cleaner: “What does ’sefebe’ mean in Afrikaans?”

“A black whore,” she replies.

This is just a Sad reality which shows that South africa is among if not the most racist country of the world!!!

Blues, JAzz and Roots Festival 15th March'08

Get a little taste of entertainment at the inaugural Blues, Jazz and Roots Concert in conclusion of the first season of the Old Mutual Encounters Summer Concerts on the 15 March 2008.

The month of March continues to give way to yet another show. The Blues, Jazz and Roots concert is one of the many entertaining concerts South Africans will take pleasure in seeing. This event will take you back to the beginning of Jazz and Blues in South Africa, and if you are a novice then you will be getting a radiant overture to the life of its compositions. Held at Emmarentia Dam, Johannesburg Botanic Garden on the 15th of March as part of the Old Mutual Encounters Summer Concerts Series, the concept behind this event captures an array of new, modern and traditional takes on Jazz and Blues, with local acts ranging from Valiant and Ollie, Tidal Waves, Radio Kalahari Orkes, Robin Auld, Dan Patlansky, Syd Kitchen, Madala Kunene and Jim Neversink who will play host to the day.

To add to this occasion, Michelle Shocked, one of the most powerful musicians who has travelled across the globe to release more albums than any of her fellow musicians in her field, is heading back to South Africa. After two years, she brings back her own unique style and sense of originality within her artistry as a musician combining the right amount of soulfulness with just enough blues, rock ‘n roll and gospel music. Critics have assured her music as being playfully profound and that her most recent release ‘ToHeavenURide' was heavensent, at the same time elevating a sense of humour, irony and symmetry. Hers is music that overflows with jazz and blues roots, one can even hear a bit of the New Orleans brass influence in her music.

Tickets are already on sale at www.oppikoppi.co.za, www.ticketconnection.co.za, and all Mr Price stores and at the gate. Gates are open from 10am to 10pm.

Ticket prices range from R100 for adults, R50 for scholars and children under the age of 12 years are free.

We would also like to appeal to concertgoers not to bring any glass containers into the show, as it will be confiscated. Bring all your friends, family and come make new friends or just come enjoy a musical experience filled afternoon while being entertained till sunset. There will also be a children's arena, which includes jumping castles, clowns and many other attractions, where parents can leave their children under supervision while enjoying this events entertainers.

Channel O Launches ‘Skika'

East African beats, East African lyrics and East African rhythm… That's what Channel O is going to deliver to DStv audiences from March 10 when it's brand-new, first-ever, dedicated East African music series Skika: Be Heard begins!

Running for 13 weeks, Skika is hosted by Kenyan personality Aimee Ongeso and was created for Channel O by Nairobi-based production house Mondeas, in collaboration with two other local production companies, Quite Bright Films and Mwafrika Entertainment.

Showcasing the East African entertainment scene, Skika will focus on the region's vibrant youth culture while shining a spotlight onto its emerging and established stars. Featuring three music videos in each episode, along with a news segment and behind-the-scenes footage, Skikais structured to entertain and inform its audiences.

Channel O General Manager Yolisa Phahle says that Skika is set to give audiences across Africa the opportunity to take a closer look at East African talent and creativity.

“Channel O was born in Africa and for over a decade, it has profiled the continent's artists, provided a platform for African music and supported African success. We're very proud that we are able to serve as a community meeting place for African music fans and we intend to continue creating new programming that will keep audiences tuned in. With Skika, we're taking another step forward, one that we believe our audiences will directly benefit from. East Africa has a vibrant music legacy and dynamic future. We believe that our audiences want to see this, understand it and celebrate it.”

With the each episode of Skika themed, the show features a wide variety of music guests. In the episode titled 'Freedom of Expression', fans can look out for Majimaji, Eric Wainaina, DNG and Die Hard. In the Ghetto episode, musicians Girongi, Ojiji, Rastaman, Wakamba Wawili and Wenyeji make appearances whilst in Old VS New, its Zippi, Yunasi, Sauti, Longombas, Grandmaster Masese and Chizi who are featured. And in the SHENG episode, viewers tuning in will see Chiwawa, Dream, MC Kah and Muki Garang. And that's just four episodes! So all-in-all, Skika is set to be packed with guests, local musicians, videos, interviews and more.

Excited about the launch of Skika, Mondeas Director Rand Pearson says, “This project highlights the commitment we all have towards the development of quality local content. It's a content revolution in Kenya and we're proud to be a part of it.”

Meanwhile, though Skika is the first East African dedicated series on Channel O, East African musicians have had a long association with the channel. Several performers from the region have taken home Channel O Spirit of Africa Awards and last year's winner roster included Nameless (Kenya), Peter Miles (Uganda) and Juma Nature (Tanzania).

In addition, Channel O's popular reality series Dance Africa and Emcee Africa have all made stops in East Africa whilst its continental music series Urban Massive also visited Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda in 2006. Further Channel O was a sponsor at Kenya's Kisima Awards in 2006. And late last year, two lucky competition winners from Kenya and Tanzania jetted into Johannesburg for the Mary J. Blige concert, courtesy of Channel O.

MY AMERICAN HEART

That’s what bassist Dustin Hook has to say about the writing process of My American Heart’s ‘Hiding Inside The Horrible Weather’. The first single, ‘The Shake (Awful Feeling)’ has been creating quite a buzz on local radio waves on stations such as 5FM and charting on various stations such as TuksFM.

My American Heart is fronted by 20 year old Larry Soliman on vocals, Jesse Barrera on guitar and backing vocals, Dustin Hook on the bass and Steven Oira laying the beat on drums. The band have grown in leaps and bounds since their debut album ‘The Meaning In Makeup’ showing that this young group of talented musicians (They are all 20 years old except Dustin Hook who is 19) have grown and matured to a point where their dynamic sound could be considered a ‘veteran’ of the rock scene.

‘Tired and Uninspired’ is the next enticing single from the exciting and innovative quartet which has already been getting massive attention on 5FM and is sure to be this summer’s big rock ballad! Check out this amazing footage of the band performing the track to a sold out venue at this link -

Bringing Back Authenticity with White Horse, MK and Radio 2000

After an extremely successful show in Potchefstroom in October last year, it is time for the next round of the White Horse Sessions. White Horse Whisky, MK, Radio 2000 and Oppikoppi Productions have decided to saddle up some of the country’s best and most recognized breeding studs, to throw in a couple of pure bred fillies and bring you unique but kicking tunes. The first show has galloped through Potchefstroom on 24 October and is now heading straight for Bloemfontein on 23 February at the Mystic Boer.

This year’s White Horse Sessions is about the old and the young and established artists playing on the same stage as the bands they have influenced. The second leg of the White Horse Sessions tour will be at the infamous and local drinking spot the Mystic Boer and the evening will feature Karen Zoid, Cassette, newbies All Will Fall and Enakskind.

Our lovely friends from MK and Radio 2000 will also be there to record every second of the show to re-broadcast later if you can’t make it to this round.

After this show the White Horse Sessions will travel to Pretoria and Cape Town, bringing you a unique compilation of already established muso’s mixed together with the latest flavour in music. The idea behind this is to allow upcoming bands the opportunity to jam with already established and successful artists who have influenced their music in one way or another. “Which is what White Horse Whisky is all about,” says Nathan Smith, Account Director for White Horse Whisky at Oppikoppi Productions. “White Horse Whisky is all about authenticity, good quality, strong roots and heritage but at the same time it is a relevant, exciting, trendy and unique offer to our younger adult consumers,” says Smith.

Due to the uniqueness of the show White Horse Whisky has decided to produce 100 autographed t-shirts and hand them out during the evening. There will also be tons of other exclusive give-aways, so do yourself a favour and get down to this show-down jam session for some none stop action!

The White Horse Sessions Bloemfontein is brought to you by White Horse Whisky, MK, Radio 2000 and OppiKoppi Productions. Tickets are going for the mere R30 and are available at the doors.

LADY LEA WARNS CLUB GOERS!

Drink spiking amongst club goers is an ever increasing problem in the club scene here in South Africa. Unsuspecting club goers are affected every night by this act yet no one has spoken out about this problem recently.
South Africa’s premier female DJ, Lady Lea, wants the public to know about the dangers of drink spiking, what to look for and how to limit your chances of being an unsuspecting victim. Being right in the heart of the club scene, Lady Lea has seen and experienced everything.
‘This can happen to anyone, regardless of whether you’re male or female’ says Lady Lea. ‘People do it for a number of reasons - to rob you, take advantage of you, jealousy or even get a kick out of watching someone suffer from a spiked drink. The most commonly used substances are Rohypnol and GHB mixed with alcohol, they are tasteless and cannot be seen when added to a drink. They take effect very quickly and cannot be traced in the bloodstream after 48 hours. My friends and fellow DJ’s have had bad experiences when it comes to this – these people who do it are sick and the situation is extremely unfortunate’

Lady Lea has some points for club goers to take notice of when out having a party:

· Don’t take drinks from strangers or even acquaintances that you’re not too familiar with especially when you’re out alone.

· If you’re offered a shooter by a barman or someone else, make them drink half first before you have it to make sure there’s no other substance in it.

· Be wary of anyone following you around a club that you don’t know and be careful where you place your drink and always keep an eye on it – people who spike drinks are very quick!

· If you feel uncomfortable in a club about your drink or someone in the club, inform the manager and make them aware of the situation.

· Take special care, have a PARTY but be cautious.

There are at times situations where someone you’re out with, be it a friend, boyfriend or girlfriend, is a victim of this disgusting act. The effect doesn’t only take place on the victim, but also on the people around the victim as it is quite a traumatizing incident. The following points from Lady Lea are what to do when put into this situation:
Stay with the person whose drink has been spiked. DO NOT leave them with random people.
Call the club manager to let them know about the situation.
Take them to a quiet spot in the club (if possible)
Inform the parents or someone who is close to the victim and you know you can trust.
Make sure they drink lots of water and get them home as soon as possible.
If the case is serious, get them to the nearest 24 hour emergency room.

‘This is a serious problem facing the club scene here and we need to make club goers aware of the fact that it is happening every night and the attitude of ‘It’ll never happen to me’ must be stopped. People must be able to go to clubs, feel safe and have the party of their life!’

Hit Me With Music is back after a hugely successful show in 2007. It's a tribute to Bob Marley - a man whose music and lyrics have given hope and inspiration to millions of people around the globe. Marley represents an ideology of freedom, his work touching on both personal liberation and liberation of the African mind and spirit. His lyrics have given hope and inspiration to many. In his spirit, JHBLive introduces the Hit Me With Music Party 2008.

This year's event has a 70's African Revival theme. The main floor will host live acts, which will stage a tribute to the music of Bob Marley. The Carfax outside area will be transformed into a 70's-style African shebeen, accompanied by a small market, complete with a selection of mouth-watering West African and Ethiopian cuisine. For those with harder tastes, there will be a ragga-style drum 'n bass floor to keep your feet grooving all night long.
Come join us for a night of inspiration, perspiration and jubilation!

Global Breakthrough Festival 2008

http://www.global-breakthrough.com/

Global Breakthrough and Miller Genuine Draft confirmed today that one of music’s hottest tickets, Snow Patrol (Gary-vocals and Tom-keyboards), will perform a very special DJ set at this year’s five-day Global Breakthrough Festival alongside some of the finest DJ talent from around the world and South Africa. The festival kicks off in Cape Town on Wednesday 27 February and runs until Sunday 2 March, at prized locations that include Signal Hill and a helicopter hangar. A very special fringe event will also take place at The Godfrey Moloi Mansion in Soweto on 2 March, in what is expected to be the biggest international dance event this famous township has ever experienced.

The international line-up includes techno, house and minimal wizard Luciano, Circoloco-Ibiza’s prized resident who very recently was voted second-best DJ in the world by ResidentAdvisor.net. Also on the bill is deep house, jazz-infused Henrik Schwarz playing a LIVE set, and Âme – producer of the world-wide club smash hit Rej, who is also head honcho of Europe’s favourite deep house label, Innervisions. Alongside the visiting artists, a line-up of some of the most revered local talent will also be in action.

Says Miller Genuine Draft brand Marketing Manager Alistair Mokoena: “Apart from the massive entertainment value that this festival holds, it also serves as a space for artists to exchange ideas and gain learning from one another. The Miller Global Breakthrough Festival is an international talent platform for South Africa’s electronic industry and is run by people close to the scene.”

It is an experience that marks lives permanently, and without fail, positively.
